Looking for inspiration? If you haven’t done so in a while, take a minute and look at your archives. There’s not only a whole lot of happy nostalgia to be found, you may have assets you completely forgot about that can help you with current projects.

It’s important to have your company archives separate from your day-to-day use system. There’s just no good reason to spend more than you have to so that files you may never touch again can be readily available, and that space can be saved for active projects, with older stuff transferred to tape, off-line or near-line and not taking up the prime real estate. But that also means you may not have seen that stuff in a while.

Most of us are our own worst critics, but when we have a chance to go back and look at things fairly, we’re actually pretty good. It’s ok to like your own work. It’s encouraged, actually. So take some time and look back. You deserve the warm fuzzy, and you’ll feel a whole lot more inspired when you’re done.
